Supported HR 2251/S 973 "Resident Physician Shortage Reduction Act", that would expand the number of Medicare-supported physician training positions and provide preferences for programs that train primary care physicians and general surgeons. Advocated that various workforce development issues affecting the supply of health professions,
including the funding of Graduate Medical Education and HRSA health professions programs (all critical issues to UMDNJ's education mission) be addressed within the Health Reform legislation before the House and Senate.

health reform legislation before the House and Senate contain adequate reimbursement funding for Medicare and Medicaid DSH programs, provide for Coordinated Care proposals to advance integrated delivery systems, and that 340B drug discounts be extended to the inpatient setting, be addressed within the Health Reform legislation before the House and Senate.

UMDNJ and New Jersey Dental School submitted written comments to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, US Department of Health and Human Services regarding the January 13, 2010 CMS Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on the Medicare and Medicaid Electronic Health Records Incentive Program. UMDNJ submitted written comments to the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, US Department of Health and Human Services on the HITECH Initial Set Interim Final Rule
RIN 0991-AB58. This proposed rule and interim final rule would impact the goal of UMDNJ of improving patient care through improved information capture, utilization and dissemination with the aid of certified electronic health record technology.
Advocated that reasonable Medicare and Medicaid DSH reimbursement levels, a critical issue to UMDNJ-University Hospital's safety net mission, be included in the Health Reform legislation before the House and Senate.
