Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) proposed rules to implement Public Law 108-159, Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act that establishes uniform national standards for certain consumer credit insurance and employment transactions.
FTC matter number P044804, comments on Study of the Effects of the Use of Credit Scores and Credit-Based Insurance Scores
on the Availability of a Range of Consumer Financial Products and Services.
The FTC and Fed issued studies on the effects of credit scores and credit-based insurance scores on the availability of financial products. The FTC's study concentrated on auto insurance. The FTC is studying the effects of the use of credit-based insurance scoring as it relates to the affordability of homeowners insurance.
Medicare, Medicaid and SCHIP Extension Act of 2007, PL 110-173 and implementation of CMS Guidelines.
National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS) created an electronic means to verify and exchange titling, brand and theft data among motor vehicle administrators, law enforcement officials, prospective purchasers and insurance carriers. NMVTIS regulations requiring insurers to submit loss data for national database with Department of Justice.

Improving the efficiency of the current regulatory system, whether by modifying the existing state system, creating an optional federal charter for insurance companies or through the creation of a Federal Office of Insurance Information.
National Insurance Consumer Protection Act, H.R. 1880
Federal Backstop for Natural Catastrophes -- Support legislation that would authorize the Treasury Department to sell catastrophic reinsurance to state catastrophe funds.
The 2009 Omnibus Appropriations Act extends the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) through September 2009.
H.R. 1264, "Multiperil Insurance Act of 2009." The Act would authorize the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) to sell windstorm coverage.
H.R. 1583, "Insurance Industry Competition Act of 2009" -- The Act would repeal the McCarran-Ferguson Act and grant the Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission the legal authority to apply antitrust laws to insurers' anticompetitive behavior.
