Met with legislative staff to encourage support for continued funding for Title VI International Education & Area Studies and the Fulbright/Hayes programs in the context of the PROSPER Act (HR 4508), and to oppose the elimination of these programs as proposed in the President's FY19 budget.
Met with legislative staff to express support for legislation to continue the Perkins Loan Program (S1808, HR2482) in the context of the PROSPER Act (HR4508).
Met with legislative staff to share concerns with the PROSPER Act (HR 4508) and the President's FY19 budget proposal, and to note opposition to proposals that would cut the SEOG program, repeal the subsidized loan program, reallocate the formula for the Federal Work Study program, and eliminate the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
Met with legislative staff to express support for programs that increase access to higher education for first generation and under served minority students.
Met with legislative staff to express support for STEM education programs, and to explain how the PROSPER Act could negatively impact those fields.
