General Small Business Issues
Infrastructure Bills - Voiced concerns about provisions in INVEST in American Act that could undermine small business competitiveness.
PRO Act, S. 420 - Continue to voice opposition to the legislation whether advanced separately, or as part of the American Jobs Plan infrastructure package, or another spending vehicle. Expressed concern through congressional hearings - written testimony for the record.
Modern Worker Empowerment Act, H.R. 4069 and S. 2973 - Support the legislation.
Antitrust Activity in House and Senate, including efforts focused on Big Tech - Expressed general concern about breaking up and hyper-regulating the technology platforms that are enabling small business survival, opportunity and growth during COVID-19 and the unintended consequences for small businesses and all consumers.
Expressed concern to Congress and the Biden Administration about imposing new regulatory burdens generally on small businesses, and the impact during the fragile recovery period.
Project Labor Agreements (PLAs) - Expressed opposition to the use of PLAs to Congress and Administration in federal procurement projects and forthcoming infrastructure plans through coalition letters, testimony for the record in congressional hearings.
Fair and Open Competition Act, H.R. 1284 and S. 403 - Support the legislation.
Taxes and Tax Reform
Main Street Certainty Act, H.R. 1381 and S. 480 - Support passage of this bill to make permanent the 20% small business deduction in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
Tax Increases: Expressed concern to Congress and Biden Administration about raising taxes during the recovery period and its impact on small business survival, growth, capital access and investment. Specific tax proposals include raising individual rates, capital gains rates, corporate rates and elimination of stepped-up basis.
Intellectual Property Protection
Expressed opposition to petition before the World Health Organization to force U.S. based companies to give away their COVID-19 IP protections. Voiced opposition to the Biden Administrations support of the petition.
Access to Broadband
Infrastructure package: Urged Congress to allow all providers access to infrastructure dollars and not favor local government-owned networks. Also urged Congress not to use the infrastructure package as a vehicle for more regulation and red tape, which would slow deployment efforts.
General Government Reform
United States Postal Service: Continue to call attention to fiscal and other challenges at the USPS and how this impacts small businesses.
