H.R. 749 The Passenger Rail Reform and Investment Act of 2015 A bill which would authorize appropriations for FY2016-FY2019 to the Secretary of Transportation for Amtrak. PRRIA brings significant and needed certainty to Amtrak and its employees for planning for the future. This bill will result in strengthening the NEC infrastructure, and provides better passenger rail service for our Nations transportation system.
H.R. 1461 DRIVE Act of 2015 A bill which would defund and remove the Mass Transit Account from the Highway Trust Fund by 2015. TCU is opposed to this bill.
H.R. 1551 Highway Restoration Act of 2015 A bill which would phase out the Mass Transit Account from the Highway Trust Fund by 2020. TCU is opposed to this bill.
H.R. 1711 Federal Transit Modernization Act of 2015 A bill which repeals the requirement that conditions certain financial assistance for public transportation projects upon employee protective arrangements approved by the Secretary of Labor.
S. 650 Railroad Safety and Positive Train Control Extension Act A bill to extend the positive train control system implementation deadline, and for other purposes. This legislation would extend the statutory deadline for PTC implementation by five years to Dec. 31, 2020, and provide an optional two-year extension if Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) approval is granted. The short lines that operate on PTC-mandated track would also receive a five-year extension. TCU supports the extension for Railroads and Commuters, so that they have time to sort out the problem areas and so that the Transit agencies have figured out a way to work it into their annual budgets.
