Supported robust FY 2022 appropriations for science research funding.
Supported emergency relief for science and research funding for the National Science Foundation in COVID-19 relief legislation.
Endorsed the Research Investment to Spark the Economy Act (H.R.869/S.289), which would provide roughly $25 billion in emergency relief for the research enterprise in light of COVID-19. Also, encouraged President Biden to champion the legislation.
Endorsed the Supporting Early Career Researchers Act (H.R.144), which would establish a 2-year postdoctoral fellowship program through NSF to support early-career scientists whose employment prospects may have been affected by COVID-19.
Joined a letter to President Biden with priorities for the research and development enterprise.
CGS encouraged increased flexibility for individuals completing the Survey of Earned Doctorate request and the Survey of Doctorate Recipients request. These flexibilities encouraged including appropriate demographic options for individuals who may identify as non-binary. These recommendations were submitted to the National Science Foundation.

Supported robust FY 2022 appropriations for the Department of Education and key programs, including Pell Grants, Supplemental Education Opportunity Grants, Federal Work-Study, TRIO programs, GEAR UP, LEAP Grants, foreign language programs, and the Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need program.
Encouraged $40 billion in COVID-19 relief for higher education institutions and students.
Actively lobbied for the reintroduction of the Expanding Access to Graduate Education Act in the 117th Congress. The legislation would provide graduate students who received Pell Grant support as undergraduates and who remain income-eligible to the ability to apply remaining semesters of Pell awards towards a graduate degree.
Expressed higher education priorities to the Department of Homeland Security, including ways DHS can support international students and scholars.
Requested DREAMers and international students are made eligible for emergency student funds under HEERF II.
Expressed higher education priorities to the Department of State, including priorities for international students and scholars.

CGS also advocated for an increase in funding to the National Endowment for the Humanities.
Supported the COVID-19 Reconciliation Budget package, which offered $40 billion in emergency funding for students and institutions and dedicated funding for HBCUs and other MSIs. Also supported emergency supplemental funds for the research enterprise. CGS applauded the passage of the American Rescue Plan upon passage.
