American Rescue Plan of 2021: Budget reconciliation legislation that included a pay-for that impacts retirement savers. Section 9709 would have implement a cost-of-living adjustment freeze for the year 2030 and beyond.
Short-terms Savings: Proposal that would expand hardship distribution rules in order to incentivize and increase short-term savings.
Portable Retirement and Investment Account Act (PRIA): Creates retirement accounts at birth to help establish life long savings/retirement accounts.
S. 222, The American Opportunity Accounts Act: Establishes tax-exempt American Opportunity Accounts to provide children at birth with a $1,000 savings account with annual contributions up to $2,000 depending on family income.
Group Insurance Products. The Continuing Paycheck Protection Program includes ACLIs suggested language to clarify that the loan money can be used and will be forgiven for other group insurance products including: life, disability, vision, and dental. The amendment applies to loans already made.
Extension of Paid Leave Credits. Extension of credits for paid sick and family leave which extended the provisions of FFCRA until March 31, 2021 and replaced the mandate to provide paid sick leave related to the pandemic with a payroll tax subsidy to employers who provide the leave.
