H.R. 1, the "For the People Act of 2019"; Title IV, Subtitle F repealing the prohibition on the Securities and Exchange Commission promulgating regulations to require a shareholder vote for a corporation to engage in spending that supports the best interests of the company on public issues directly and through trade associations and other entities. Legislative proposal directing the Treasury Department to require every business owner in the United States to file with the government the name, address, and a copy of a driver's license or unexpired passport of every individual who, directly or indirectly, derives a substantial economic benefit from, exercises substantial control over, or has certain other interests in a legal entity and further requiring business owners to update this information within 60 days of any change in individuals who, directly or indirectly, have such an interest or any change in the information about an individual already disclosed as having a reportable direct or indirect interest (no bill introduced). Proposals related to public disclosure of all individuals who directly or indirectly derive a benefit from a corporation, limited liability company, or other entity. Proposals for a regulatory "sandbox" to facilitate innovation and consumer choice in financial services consistent with legal and regulatory requirements. CFPB development of "No Action Letter" process to clarify the scope of permissible activities by regulated entities. General education regarding the SEC's proposed Regulation Best Interest (83 Fed. Reg. 21574, May 9, 2018). General education concerning the need to simplify AML/BSA reporting mandates under the Bank Secrecy Act.

Reg. 20945, Apr. 8, 2016) and the status of various Prohibited Transaction Exemptions following the 5th Circuit injunction of the final fiduciary rule. State efforts to impose a patchwork of fiduciary obligations on retirement plans regulated under ERISA and the issues this poses for the uniformity Congress intended when it enacted ERISA with its preemption provision.
