S. 860/H.R. 3326 - Early Treatment for HIV Act, all sections, provide States the option to expand Medicaid coverage to early inter-
vention, treatment, and healthcare for people living with HIV.
H. R. 6680, Community AIDS and Hepatitis Prevention Act, all sections, will permit the use of Federal funds for syringe exchange programs for purposes of reducing the transmission of bloodborne pathogens, including HIV and viral hepatitis.

S 3230, H.R. 3043, Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies, Title II, support increased funding for NIH, HRSA and CDC including HIV prevention, treatment, education, training and care, and research. Seek removal of ban spending federal funds on syringe access. End funding for abstinence-only program .
S 3260, no House bill number, Title VIII, Section 813, Financial Services and General Government, maintain removal of ban on spending local Washington DC tax funds on syringe access and seek removal of ban on spending federal funds on syringe access, additionally support for $1.4 million to the White House Office of National AIDS Policy for the development of a National AIDS Strategy.
S 3261, H.R. 3074, Title II, Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies, Support increased funding for Housing Opportunities for People with AIDS (HOPWA).
S. 823/H.R. 1420, Microbicide Development Act, all titles, support authorization of increased research funding for microbicides and for coordination among federal agencies conducting microbicide research. Support establishing a branch within the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) dedicated to the development of microbicides.
S. 972/H.R. 1653, The Responsible Education About Life (REAL) Act, all sections, support state grants (and evaluation of grants) for family life education programs, including education on abstinence and contraception for the prevention of teenage pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV/AIDS.
H.R. 178, Justice for the Unprotected Against Sexually Transmitted Infections among the Confined and Exposed (JUSTICE) Act of 2007, all sections, support allowing community organizations to provide STI counseling, prevention education, and sexual barrier protection devices in federal correctional facilities and support a "sense of Congress" resolution that States should allow legal distribution of sexual barrier protection devices in state correctional facilities to reduce the prevalence and spread of STIs. Support report on correctional facility programs to reduce the spread of STIs and development and implemention of a 5-year strategy to reduce the prevalence and spread of STIs in federal and state correctional facilities.
H.R. 822, Routine HIV/AIDS Screening Coverage Act of 2007, all sections, support amending the Public Health Service Act, the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974, the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, and Title 5, United States Code, to require individual and group health insurance coverage and group health plans and Federal employees health benefit plans to provide coverage for routine HIV/AIDS screening.
H.R. 1713, Protection Against Transmission of HIV for Women and Youth (PATHWAY) Act of 2007, all sections, support requiring Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator (OGAC) to establish a comprehensive and integrated HIV prevention strategy to address the vulnerabilities of women and girls in countries that receive United States assistance to combat HIV/AIDS.
H.R. 3014 - Health Equity and Accountability Act, all Titles, support improved access and services for linguistic and minority populations, report on, and support of workforce diversity, including career training, cultural competence training, expansion of minority serving institutions and training programs, collection of data on race, ethnicity and linguistic programs.
H.R. 6114, Simplifying and Updating National Standards to Encourage Testing (SUNSET) of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus of 2008, all sections, support for ending restrictions on HIV testing and recommends the VA participate in an informed verbal consent process for HIV testing.
H.R. 1943, The Stop AIDS in Prison Act, all sections, support development of a comprehensive policy to provide HIV testing, treatment, and prevention for inmates within the correctional setting and upon reentry.
S.558, H.R.1424, Paul Wellstone Mental Health and Addiction Equity Act of 2007, bill to provide parity between health insurance coverage of mental health benefits and benefits for medical and surgical services. Note that H.R. 1424 became the vehicle for the economic stabilization act, however AIDS Action solely worked on the parity provisions and did not advocate regarding the broader bailout. (Note: passed Oct 3, 2008)
H.R. 2638, Consolidated Security, Disaster Assistance, and Continuing Appropriations Act, 2009. In this continuing resolution, AIDS Action sought increased funding for CDC HIV Prevention programs (but ultimately not included in bill).
H. Con Res. 426/S. Con. Res. 103, Resolution to Honor 10th Anniversary of Minority AIDS Initiative to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Minority AIDS Initiative and renew the call to address the disproportionate impact of HIV and AIDS in minority communities.
Regulatory Activities related to passage of H.R. 5501/S. 2731, Lantos/Hyde United States Global Leadership Against HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria Reauthorization Act, all Titles, including regulatory activity related to remove the categorical legal bar to prospective HIV-positive immigrants, foreign students, refugees, and tourists from entry into the United States
No Bill Number, SAMHSA Reauthorization, all sections, reauthorization expected 111th Congress, provides funding for substance abuse treatment particularly treatment for people living with or at risk for HIV, including Minority AIDS Funding.
No Bill Number - Ryan White CARE Act Reauthorization, all Titles, reauthorization expected before Sept. 30, 2009, support reauthorization of payer of last resort funding for cities, states, direct clinical services, direct family services, dental, Minority AIDS Initiative (MAI) to provide funding for people living with HIV plus education and training for professionals providing services.
