Fifth legislative proposal to respond to the coronavirus pandemic; proposals to ensure the continuation of law enforcement retirement coverage for officers disabled in the line of duty as if the individual had never been disabled and regardless of whether the individual is reappointed to federal service in a non-covered position, to extend hazard pay to and waive the annual cap on premium pay under Sec. 5547 of Title 5, U.S. Code, for federal law enforcement officers during the period of the public health emergency, and provide additional resources to increase the number of U.S. Probation Officers and extend Law Enforcement Availability Pay to such officers (no bill introduced). H.R. 1256, the "First Responder Fair RETIRE Act," legislation to ensure the continuation of law enforcement retirement coverage for officers disabled in the line of duty as if the individual had never been disabled and regardless of whether the individual is reappointed to federal service in a non-covered position; entire bill. Office of Personnel Management interim final rule on "Scheduling of Annual Leave by Employees Determined Necessary To Respond to Certain National Emergencies" (85 Fed. Reg. 48096, August 10, 2020). General education regarding the need to increase staffing for U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services and to improve the overtime compensation for federal probation officers in light of recent increases in the number of offenders requiring supervision and the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
