The SIU School of Medicine signed on to a letter of support that was sent to members of the IL Congress, U.S Senate, Chairs the House and Senate Appropriations Committee and Chairs of the Appropriations Sub Committee on Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies.
The letter was drafted by the "friends of AHRQ" organization to request stable Federal Fiscal Year 2018 budget authority for the U.S. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).

A letter was sent to Illinoiss Members of Congress and U.S. Senators in support of the Conrad State 30 and Physician Access Reauthorization Act (US Senate S 898). This act would extend the Conrad 30 J-1 waiver program and increase the number of annual waivers available to each state.

A letter was sent to members of Illinois House and Senate regarding the recent announcement of cuts to research spending aiming to eliminate indirect cost reimbursements to universities, like Southern Illinois University, that perform vital scientific research.
A thank you letter was sent to Illinois House and Senate members for their support of local public broadcast stations both in Illinois and across the country. Urging them to support the Cooperation for Public Broadcasting, the Ready to Learn Program and Public Broadcasting interconnection in the FY 18 federal budget.
