Urged congress and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to address the potential loss of coverage for millions of Medicaid beneficiaries at the end of the federal public health emergency (PHE) and specifically asked for at least a 120-day lead time before unwinding the FMAP and Maintenance of effort provisions of the FFCRA.
Urged the House Energy and Commerce Committee to move forward with existing legislation approved by the Subcommittee on Health that would address several social determinants of health and health equity issues. This legislation would allow for better coordination among federal agencies to address health equity, support state and local governments in efforts to address the social determinants of health and promote efforts and innovative approaches to improve health outcomes in programs such as Medicaid.
(S. 2938) - Bipartisan Safer Communities Act - Expressed support for the
Bipartisan Safer Communities Act. The passage of Medicaid improvements in the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act will begin to build the foundation for addressing the nationwide mental health and substance use crisis, particularly for children.
(S. 4311) - LIFT the Bar Act - Expressed support for legislation introduced to eliminate the five year-bar, a 1996 policy that denies eligibility for federal assistance programs including Medicaid to millions of immigrants who are lawfully present in the United States.
(S. 4260) - Palliative Care and Hospice Education and Training Act (PCHETA) - Expressed support for the Palliative Care and Hospice Education and Training Act (PCHETA). This legislation would ensure that patients facing serious illness have access to high quality palliative care.
Urged congress to include critical health care funding measures in the FY22 Omnibus bill including measures to provide relief for providers and the Medicare and Medicaid programs.
Urged congress to prioritize policy proposals to strengthen Medicaid and ensure its stability for underrepresented populations who rely on this critical program.
Urged the Administration to address longstanding and systemic issues that have resulted from underinvesting in nursing home care, including racial and ethnic disparities, and offer our thoughts on the following three issues: Sustainable financing, Workforce concerns, and Enhancing nursing home oversight through innovative partnerships.
Urged the Senate to renew its efforts to pass a reconciliation bill that invests in our nations future and well-being by ensuring important health coverage policies that expand access and affordability and address health equity, address climate change and promote initiatives to protect our environment, and include policies that protect Medicaid beneficiaries, providers, and communities after the end of the public health emergency.

Expressed support for efforts in Congress to encourage better integration and care coordination between physical and mental care and promote evidence-based care, as well as better financing and resources for the full continuum of care including mental health by crafting comprehensive mental health legislation.
Urged Congress to provide leadership in facilitating a pathway to comprehensive permanent telehealth reform that would provide certainty to beneficiaries and our nations health care providers while providing sufficient time for Congress and the Administration to analyze the impact of telehealth on patient care.
(S. 1162) - Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly X Act - Expressed support for the PACE X Act. The legislation would strengthen and expand the successful PACE program to help meet the rising demand for those wanting home and community-based services.
Urged the Senate Appropriations Committee and the House Committee on Appropriations to support the continued inclusion of protections for institutional and individual health care providers conscience rights, known as the Weldon Amendment, in the FY2022 Labor, Health and Human Services and Education (L/HHS/Edu) Appropriations bill.
(S.1975/H.R.3755) - Womens Health Protection Act of 2021 - Expressed opposition to the Womens Health Protection Act of 2021. This legislation impacts the ability of faith-based health care providers to provide these services in accordance with their belief.

(S. 3799) - Prepare for and Respond to Existing Viruses, Emerging New Threats, and Pandemics Act - Expressed support for the PREVENT Pandemics Act. This legislation would provide support to hospitals, health care systems and long-term care facilities while also addressing the challenges faced by at-risk populations, including the racial and ethnic health disparities made evident these last two years.
Urged congress to provide additional resources to the nations hospitals and health systems to continue to care for our communities and patients, including supplies and equipment, as well as to offset staffing costs as we enter the third year of the pandemic.
Urged the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services to renew the COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE). Renewing the public health emergency will allow hospitals and health systems the flexibilities and resources to respond to the COVID-19 virus, while best serving Americas patients.

Urged Congress to continue to reject efforts to weaken the FDAs authority over tobacco products and any such efforts during consideration of the FY 2023 Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Appropriations bill.
Urged congress to prioritize the development of bipartisan, bicameral legislation that would give FDAs Center for Tobacco Products the authority to regulate synthetic nicotine products as tobacco products and to quickly enact it into law.

Urged Congress to provide $35 million for the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and $25 million for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to conduct public health research into firearm morbidity and mortality prevention and encourage Congress to explore opportunities for building out and further supporting this research at all other appropriate agencies, to ensure that federally funded research can explore the full scope of this public health issue.
Urged Congress to act quickly to address the issue of gun violence in the wake of the recent mass shootings and proposed several measures to help curb gun violence, including banning assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition and requiring extensive background checks for the sale of all firearms.
(H.R. 7961) - Safety from Violence for Healthcare Employees (SAVE) Act - Expressed support for the Safety from Violence for Healthcare Employees Act. This legislation provides federal protections for health care workers who experience violence and intimation in their workplace settings.

Urged Congress to provide at least a $ 1 billion increase for the Title V Maternal and Child Health Services Block Grant in FY 2023 Labor, Health and Human Services, Education & Related Agencies Appropriations bill.
Urged Congress to provide $718.8 million in FY 2023 to fund The Childrens Hospitals Graduate Medical Education (CHGME) program. CHGME is a vital investment in strengthening the pediatric workforce and access to care for children.
Urged Congress to provide at least $10 billion in domestic funding and $5 billion in international funds for COVID-19 vaccines, testing, therapeutics and delivery system strengthening.
