The issue of "sequestration" as possibly triggered by the Budget Control Act of 2011: The UA advocated systematically in October and December against sequestration being implemented, citing an estimated $25M impact on UA. To support the delay in sequestration implementation, UA supported HR 8, the Tax Relief Extension Act. HR 8 also the Estate Tax and extended (retroactively) the IRA Charitable Rollover, both of which UA supported.

UA engaged on the issue of federal funding for graduate medical education (GME), including direct communication on the issue in December 2012, and conducted research and discussions to prepare to engage on this issue in 2013. With two medical schools, expanding residency positions is a great need in Arizona.
