Labor, Health, and Human Services Appropriations Bill (FY13 and FY14): National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Education and Research Centers (ERC) and Agriculture, Forestry, and Fishing (AFF) funding. Lobbied in support of funding for both programs and asked members to sign on to a Dear Colleague letter.
Submitted testimony to House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, HHS, and Education in support of Advanced Research and Development of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Medicine Countermeasures grant through BARDA grant funding to develop a strategic reserve of frozen HSC ready for transplantation. Lobbied several members of the Colorado delegation (House and Senate) in asking for a delegation letter in support of the grant proposal.
Lobbied in support of Senator Harkins amendment to The Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act of 2013 (H.R. 933).
Lobbied in support of S.Con.Res.8 amendment: Deficit-Neutral Reserve Fund to Increase Funding for Federal Investments in Biomedical Research (Durbin-Moran-Mikulski-Cardin amendment) and amendment for national network of manufacturing innovation in FY14 budget.
Labor/HHS/Education Funding: Title VII funding and impact of sequestration. Discussed the National Institute of Health (NIH) budget and the impact to the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR).
Labor/HHS/Education Funding: Lobbied in support of NIH funding increases. Asked members to sign onto a Dear Colleague letter.
Informed members on impact of Sequestration on downtown Denver, Anschutz Medical, Boulder and Colorado Springs campuses.
Lobbied in support of Emergency watershed protection funds - Waldo Canyon mitigation projects
