Missy Jenkins met with White House officials to discuss pain management and its policy on opioids.
The Alliance for Aging Research signed a letter written by the Protecting Access to Pain Relief (PAPR) coalition responding to the Request for Public Comments on the Pain Management Best Practices Inter-Agency Task Force Draft Report on Pain Management Best Practices: Updates, Gaps, Inconsistencies, and Recommendations (HHS-OS-2018-0027-0001). The comments concerned the use of over-the-counter (OTC) pain relief as part of a patient's comprehensive pain management plan, as an alternative to opioids.
The Alliance for Aging Research signed a letter of support for S.1712, Developing an Innovative Strategy for Antimicrobial Resistant Microorganisms (DISARM) Act written by S-FAR.
The Alliance for Aging Researched signed a letter written by the National Patient Advocate Foundation to Capitol Hill in support of the Senate's Stopping the Outrageous Practice (STOP) of Surprise Bills Act of 2019.

The Alliance for Aging Research held an educational briefing on the Capitol Building to educate Congressional staff on Parkinson's disease and the current pipeline of drugs that will be used to treat the disease.
The Alliance for Aging Research signed a letter to the White House asking them to remove the FDA from memorandum entitled "Guidance on Compliance with the Congressional Review Act" that would require the agency to have oversight of its guidances from non-scientific agencies in the federal government.

The Alliance for Aging Research had met with Members of Congress and their staff to discuss a CMS coverage decision on its coverage of the cardiac procedure, transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). Missy Jenkins also had meetings with Dep. Sec. of HHS Eric Hargan and Ruth McKesson on CMS to discuss the issue of TAVR coverage and submitted written comments to CMS regarding its draft decision.
The Alliance for Aging Research signed a letter written by the Medicare Access for Patients Rx Coalition (MAPrx) on the proposed rule "Removal of Safe Harbor Protections for Rebates Involving Prescription Pharmaceuticals and Creation of New Safe Harbor Protection for Certain Point-of-Sale Reductions in Price on Prescription Pharmaceuticals and Certain Pharmacy Benefit Manager Service Fees Proposed Rule." The letter was in support of the proposed rule.
The Alliance for Aging Research signed a letter written by the Leadership Council of Aging Organizations (LCAO) proposing permanent, annual funding of $50 million for low-income outreach and enrollment activities, so more low-income adults are aware of their eligibility for the Part D Low-Income Subsidy.
The Alliance for Aging Research signed a letter written by Medicare Access for Patients Rx Coalition (MAPrx) to Chairmen of the House Ways & Means Committee advocating for an out of pocket cap on Part D expenditures for Medicare beneficiaries, directing CMS to improve the online shopping experience of Part D plans, make improvements to the low-income subsidy program.
The Alliance for Aging Research signed a letter that was written by S-FAR encouraging CMS to carve novel antibiotics to treat serious or life-threatening infections out of the diagnosis-related group (DRG) and to adopt new requirements for antibiotic stewardship and surveillance.

Missy Jenkins has been lobbying Members of Congress and their staff on reauthorizing the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). The Alliance for Aging Researched also signed on to letters to the Committees of jurisdiction to reauthorize PCORI.
The Alliance for Aging Research submitted outside testimony to the Committee on Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education, and Related Agencies asking the Subcommittee to prioritize the NIH, NIA, AHRQ, CDC's antimicrobial resistance efforts and vaccine programs.
The Alliance for Aging Research led coalition Accelerate Cure/Treatments for Alzheimer's disease (ACT-AD) submitted outside testimony to the Committee on Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education, and Related Agencies advocating more federal funding into researching potential treatments for Alzheimer's disease.

The Alliance for Aging Research signed a letter of support for H.R. 2073, a bill to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to permanently extend the 7.5 percent adjusted gross income floor for the medical expense deduction.
The Alliance for Aging Research signed a letter of support for S.110, the Medical Expense Savings Act which would make permanent the 7.5 percent threshold for the medical expense deduction.
The Alliance for Aging Researched sent a letter to Capitol Hill in support of S. 692, the Protect Medical Innovation Act of 2019.
