H. Con. Res. 25, Fiscal year 2014 House Budget Resolution. S. Con. Res. 8. Fiscal year 2014 Senate Budget Resolution. S. 1284. Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education and Related Agencies (LHHS) Appropriations Act for FY14 Multiple clauses.
H. Con. Res. 25, Fiscal year 2014 House Budget Resolution. Multiple clauses; establishes the budget for the United States government for fiscal year 2014 and sets forth budgetary levels for fiscal years 2015 through 2023. Oppose repeal of the Affordable Care Act and structural reforms to Medicaid and Medicare.
S. Con. Res. 8. Fiscal year 2014 Senate Budget Resolution. Multiple clauses; an original concurrent resolution setting forth the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2014, revising the appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal year 2013, and setting forth the appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2015 through 2023.

Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education and Related Agencies (LHHS) Appropriations Act for FY14 Multiple clauses; Provides funding for the Division of Diabetes Translation (DDT) and the National Diabetes Prevention Program at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as well as funding for research at the National Institutes of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Our efforts are focused on increased funding for both of these agencies, on behalf of those who will benefit from the research and education/information programs that they provide.
Issues worked on the Hill not yet reflected in legislation:
House Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education and Related Agencies (LHHS) Appropriations Act for FY14 Multiple clauses; Provides funding for the Division of Diabetes Translation (DDT) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as well as funding for research at the National Institutes of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Our efforts are focused on increased funding for both of these agencies, on behalf of those who will benefit from the research and education/information programs that they provide. Additionally, we are interested in the allocation of $20 million for the implementation of the National Diabetes Prevention Program (NDPP).
Opposing cost-shifting, cuts to or the block granting of federal entitlement programs, specifically Medicaid and Medicare. In addition, opposing structural changes to the Medicare program including the combining of Parts A and B deductibles and imposing new co-pays for home health services.

H.R. 2668, Fairness for American Families Act. Oppose entire bill; delays until 2015 the minimum essential health care coverage requirement in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
H.R. 2667, Authority for Mandate Delay Act. Oppose entire bill; delays until 2015 enforcement of requirements that large employers offer their full-time employees the opportunity to enroll in minimum essential coverage under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and delays the effective date of related reporting requirements for such employers and for providers of minimum essential coverage.
Issues worked on the Hill not yet reflected in legislation:
Health Disparities Past support for entire Eliminating Disparities in Diabetes Prevention, Access and Care Act, which would expand resources at NIH, CDC, and HRSA to promote research, treatment, and education regarding diabetes in minority populations. In 113th Congress support similar, but updated legislative proposal to reduce the burden of diabetes related disparities. Also follow the Health Equity and Accountability Act, disparities legislation likely to be introduced by the TriCouncil, for possible support.
United States Preventive Services Task Forcesupport any efforts to require the USPSTF to update its recommendation for diabetes screening including gestational diabetes screening based on new evidence. Seek support for nomination of Dr. Elbert Huang to serve on the USPSTF.
Special Diabetes Program educate Congress on the good work the program is doing in research and prevention and the need to reauthorize this program.
