Monitor housing legislation that may impact independent mortgage brokers. Monitor FHFA fees on GSEs. Advocate for more market flexibility for the GSEs to purchase more loans for market liquidity. Education about an improved appraisal process that provides for lower costs and more timely appraisals for customers. Possible legislation that would require an opt-in requirement for trigger leads. Builder referrals clauses that may limit the homebuyers ability to secure the best home loan. Support for a national mortgage brokers day. Ginnie Mae Request for Input (RFI) Eligibility Requirements for Single-Family MBS Issuers Based on how the Ginnie Mae proposal was currently drafted request the proposal be withdrawn or that it be re-drafted to eliminate the risked based capital requirement and unsupported weighting on mortgage servicing rights. Support a six-month waiting period or a net tangible benefit requirement on refinances, similar to VA and FHA. Oppose certain FHFA price adjustments in the mortgage market. CFPB should consider removing unnecessary barriers to entry for new appraisers and promote the use of technology that could automate aspect of the appraisal process. Support HR 5856 - "Portal for Appraisal Licensing Act of 2021." Support SAFE Act be fully enacted by the CFPB so all stakeholders are also subject to the same rigorous standards that apply to independent brokers and non-bank lenders.
