FEDERAL AGENCY CONTACTS AND ISSUES
Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) - Closure of Battle Mountain Sanitarium VA medical facility (SD).
Bureau of Land Management (BLM) - National Landscape Conservation System (NLCS); cultural resources funding and management
Department of the Interior (DOI) -- Historic Preservation Fund allocation and funding levels; administration of federal rehabilitation tax credit;
Department of Transportation (DOT)- surface transportation planning funding.
National Park Service (NPS) - further discussion of management plan issues surrounding Ft. Monroe National Monument; cultural and historic resource funding; restoration of cabins on the White Grass Dude Ranch; meetings with Chief of National Park Maintenance and Associate Director of Cultural Resource Programs to review and discuss potential historic preservation projects that could be performed by youth corps as part of a new program called HOPE Crews (Hands on Preservation Experience);implementation and expansion of historic leasing in the parks as one of the strategies to reduce maintenance backlogs;
Office of Management and Budget (OMB) -- funding for Bureau of Land Management cultural resources and the National Landscape Conservation System. Funding for the National Park Service cultural resources account, operations of the National Park Service.
Veterans Affairs (VA) - Ongoing discussion with VA officials and veterans
groups/stakeholders to implement National Trust recommendations regarding keeping the Battle Mountain Sanitarium VA facility in South Dakota open. Continued to work with VA staff to implement recommendations in the National Trusts 2014 report improving the VAs stewardship of all historic properties within their agencys real property portfolio.
