Animal Welfare - provided educational outreach on animal welfare practices of the dairy industry and opposed any more restrictive regulation on this issue
Reinspection of nonambulatory animals - provide information on a USDA ruling that no reinspection of nonambulatory animals would be permitted once they pass ante-mortem inspections.
Animal Handling - Downer Bill: Oppose a bill that would prohibit USDA from spending funds to reinspect downer cows.
Food, Animal Residue Avoidance Databank (FARAD) - support funding for this system to provide the industry with information on how to avoid drug, pesticide and environmental contaminent residue problems.
Mandatory Animal ID - support steps to make this mandatory
Preservation of Antibiotics for Medical Treatment - HR 1549 & S 619 - oppose legislation to avoid "overuse or misuse" of antibiotics in medicine and agriculture due to inappropriate limitations on needed antibiotics
Veterinary Public Health Workforce Expansion Act - HR 2999 - Support bill to establish a grant program to build capacity in vet medical education and expand the workforce of veterinarians.
Prevention of Equine Cruelty Act of 2009 - HR 503 & S 727 - oppose bill essentially prohibiting human consumption of horse meat.

FY 2010 Agriculture Appropriations (HR 2997 and S 1406) - sought funding for ag programs in FY 2010, including Johnes disease management, MAP, FMD and Dairy Indemnity program. Additionally, supported measures to make U.S.-China trade in ag products trade-compliant and sought more Section 32 funds. Sought use of funds to be devoted towards cheese purchases.

HR 1158, 907 & S 306 - Bio-Gas Production Incentive Act of 2009 - support bills to incentivize bio-gas production
Renewable Portfolio Standard - Support efforts to obligate utilities to include in their resource portfolios a certain amount of electricity from renewable energy sources.
American Clean Energy And Security Act of 2009 - HR 2454 - provided information on impact on dairy
Renewable Electricity Standard - supported action on this measure
America's Climate Security Act - provided information to Senate on cap and trade legislation proposals
Imported Ethanol Parity Act - S. 622 & HR 2359 - support bill requring temporary duties on ethanol as well as other measures.

Tracing and Recalling Agricultural Contamination Everywhere Act of 2009 - HR 814 - directs USDA to establish a traceability system for all stages of manufacturing, processing, packaging and distribution of meat & poultry.
