Closely monitored farm bill activity, specifically the release of HR 2. OFB priorities included protecting current farm bill spending, maintaining unified farm bill that keeps traditional farm programs and the nutrition title together, prioritize top funding priorities, which includes risk management tools like crop insurance, commodity programs and conservation measures. HR 2 would increase direct spending by $3.2 billion over a five years period and another $2.7 billion over the next consecutive five years.
OFB supports all legislation to expand opportunities for farmers to grow commercial hemp including S. 2667, the Hemp Farming Act of 2018. The US is the only major industrialized country that prohibits the cultivation of industrial hemp. Oregon is well suited to grow hemp based on climate, soil and when compared to success of sister plants like hops and cannabis.

Monitored HR 3400, the Recreation Not Red Tape Act. OFB very concerned regarding Section 304 which would create a National Recreation Area System, provide for future congressional land use designations to the NRAS and encourage federal land management agencies to manage certain federal lands specifically for outdoor recreations uses. Other aspects of HR 3400 are that it recognizes livestock grazing, but would only permit grazing NRAS if the permit were established before the date of the bill's enactment.
Also continued to monitor DOI's efforts to undo efforts under the Antiquities Act in previous Administration.
