Discussed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and worked to get BPC provisions on preventing a nuclear Iran incorporated into the NDAA. Discussed legislation encouraging U.S.-Israel cooperation (S2165). Met with various Congressional staff to gage their thoughts on PNTR and discuss the BPC report on Russia relations.
Discussed Iran nuclear development and sanctions and informed Congressional staff about a series of white papers from the BPC foreign policy team on thwarting Iran's enrichment program: "Principles for Negotiating With Iran"; "Establishing a Credible Threat Against Irans Nuclear Program"; and "Assessing the Effectiveness of Sanctions on Iran: A Call for Independent Review".

Discussed BPC's energy project's work in 2012 including: the BPC Energy Board its work on diversifying resources, energy efficiency and government accountability; the natural gas supply and demand work, including modeling, the nuclear events and work, including safety, management and disposal of spent nuclear fuel, need for strong nuclear energy sector.
Discussed the electric grid work including reliability improvement and incentives for all cleaner energy sources and the need for energy innovation work including the need for a continued government role and funding.

Discussed BPCs Debt Reduction Task Force report, "Restoring Americas Future", and answered technical questions regarding the reports proposal for a comprehensive reform of Medicare and to discuss policies around comprehensive tax reform of individual and corporate rates and subsidies; discussed ways to increase understanding of the federal debt; discussed the provisions in law of the Budget Control Act and the sequester and basic budgetary assumptions that would be applied when implementing the sequester.
Advocated for Congress to achieve a legislative path to avoid the fiscal cliff and set up a process for achieving a comprehensive debt reduction package in 2013.
