H.R. 3879 - "Coast Guard Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2005" To authorize appropriations for the Coast Guard for fiscal year 2005, to amend various laws administered by the Coast Guard and for other purposes. Title - II Coast Guard - SEC. 2. Lobbied members and staff of the House Transportation and Infrastructure committee and attended hearings regarding this legislation.
S.2229 - "National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2005" - A bill to authorize appropriations for fiscal year 2005 for military activities of the Department of Defense, to prescribe military personnel strengths for fiscal year 2005 and for other purposes, Title XXXV--Maritime Administration. Lobbied members and staff of the Senate Armed Services committee.
H.R.4200 - "Ronald W. Reagan National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2005" - To authorize appropriations for fiscal year 2005 for military activities of the Department of Defense, for military construction, and for defense activities of the Department of Energy, to prescribe personnel strengths for such fiscal year for the Armed Forces, and for other purposes - Title XXXV: Maritime Administration, All sections. Lobbied members and staff of the House Armed Services Committee and attended hearings pertaining to this legislation.
H.R.4251 - "Maritime Transportation Amendment of 2004" - To amend various laws relating to maritime transportation, and for other purposes -Sec. 206. Lobbied members and staff of the House Transportation and Infrastructure committee.
H.R.4416 - "Great Lakes Protection and Restoration Committee Act" - Establishes the Great Lakes Protection and Restoration Committee to: (1) study and report to the President, the Congress, and the Governor of each Great Lakes State on programs established and carried out to achieve restoration goals for the Great Lakes prepared by the Governors of Great Lakes States and for other purposes. Lobbied members and staff of the House Resources committee and members and staff of House Transportation and Infrastructure committee.
Met with maritime coalitions regarding threats to the Jones Act in Hawaii, the Passenger Vessel Services Act, the Towing Act, Cargo Preference, PL.-480, and issues pertaining to the Great Lakes.
Met with the Depatment of Treasury regarding repatriation of taxable income.
Met with the Government Accountability Office (GAO) team regarding the Passenger Vessel Services Act.
Maritime Security Program: Worked with other U.S. maritime labor and industry interests to secure Democratic and Republican signatures on House and Senate "Dear Colleague" letters in support of the Maritime Security Program (MSP) for FY 2007.
Met with the Maritime Administration (MARAD) and Department of Transportation (DOT) staff members on various issues concerning the membership of American Maritime Officers, like Title XI (Shipbuilding Loan Guarantees), Ship disposal and the Maritime Security Program.
Met with the United States Coast Guard on various issues concerning the membership of American Maritime Officers, mariner licensing and medical documentation, mariner and vessel protection, piracy and Great Lakes ice-breaking.
There were non-active periods in January 1-12, February 16-04, April 5-16 and May 24-31, June 28-30 of 2004.
