R. 1585 - "National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2008" - To authorize appropriations for fiscal year 2008 for military activities of the Department of Defense for military construction and for defense activities of the Department of Energy to prescribe military personnel strengths for such fiscal year and for other purposes. Lobbied members and staff of the House Armed Services committee and members and staff of the House Homeland Security committee. Title XXXV - Maritime Administration.
S.1547 - "National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2008" - An original bill to authorize appropriations for fiscal year 2008 for military activities of the Department of Defense, for military construction, and for defense activities of the Department of Energy, to prescribe military personnel strengths for such fiscal year, and for other purposes. Title XV. Lobbied members and staff of the Senate Armed Services Committee.
S.1789 - "Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2008" - Makes appropriations for FY2008 to the Department of Transportation, including: (9) Maritime Administration. Lobbied members and staff of the Senate Appropriations committee. Attended a subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related agencies hearing regarding this legislation.
H.R. 3074 - "Transportation Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act of 2008" - Makes appropriations for FY2008 to the Department of Transportation, including: (9) the Maritime Administration. Lobbied members and staff of the House Appropriations committee.
H.R.2421 - "Clean Water Restoration Act of 2007" - To amend the Federal Water Pollution Control Act to clarify the jurisdiction of the United States over waters of the United States. This bill proposes to eliminate the word "navigable" from the definition of "waters of the U.S." within this act (CWA). The sponsors of the bill say it is about ensuring clean water. Met with members and staff of the House Transportation and Infrastructure committee regarding this language. Attended a hearing regarding this act.
S.1870 - "Clean Water Restoration Act of 2007" - To amend the Federal Water Pollution Control Act to clarify the jurisdiction of the United States over waters of the United States - Section 2. Purposes, Section 4 and Section 5. Definition of Waters of The United States. Met with members and staff of the Senate Environment and Public Works committee.
Met with the Department of Agriculture (USDA) regarding issues with grain runs from the Great Lakes.
Met with the Department of Labor (DOL) regarding issues with fair labor practices.
Met with Maritime Food Aid Coalition regarding the House Committee on Agriculture, subcommittee on Specialty Crops, Rural Development, and Foreign Agriculture Programs.
Met with the Great Lakes Maritime Task Force regarding what is going on in the Corps funding world.
Met with the Maritime Administration (MARAD) and Department of Transportation (DOT) staff members on various issues concerning the membership of American Maritime Officers.P.L.-480 Program, Title XI (Shipbuilding Loan Guarantees), Ship disposal and the Maritime Security Program.
Met with the United States Coast Guard on various issues concerning the membership of American Maritime Officers, mariner licensing and medical documentation, mariner and vessel protection, piracy and Great Lakes ice-breaking.
Met with the Department of Defense (DOD) regarding the U.S. Navy's Military Sealift Command and contract mariner jobs.
