AUSA participated in a letter by the Coalition for Military-Connected Student Success to First Lady Dr. Jill Biden advocating for quality education for military children. February 4, 2021.

AUSA participated in a letter by The Military Coalition (TMC) to Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin advocating for dependent care flexible spending accounts for military families to have available to help offset the cost of childcare. February 10, 2021.
AUSA participated in a letter by The Military Coalition (TMC) to the HASC and SASC Chairmen and Ranking Members (Senators Reed, Inhofe; Representatives Smith, Rogers) advocating for the Major Richard Star Act which would approve eligibility for service members who are medically retired due to combat-related injuries before reaching 20 years of service to receive both their service earned retirement pay and VA disability compensation. February 18, 2021.
AUSA participated in a letter by The Military Coalition (TMC) in support of the Reserve Employers Comprehensive Relief and Uniform Incentives on Taxes (RECRUIT) Act, sponsored by Rep. Tim Ryan, OH, and Rep. Steven Palazzo, MS. The RECRUIT Act supports tax incentives for small business employers of Guard and Reserve military service members. Mark Haaland, AUSA Government Affairs Director, also participated with other Military Coalition organizations to discuss and advocate for the RECRUIT Act with Rep. Ryans, OH, office. The Association of the United States Army (AUSA) joined Veterans Education Success and other like-minded organizations to thank Senator Patty Murray, WA, and Senator Richard Burr, NC, for their support and legislation to close the 90/10 Loophole in an effort to help protect veterans seeking education opportunities. March 5, 2021.
AUSA joined other associations to thank Senator Sherrod Brown, OH, and Representative Julia Brownley, CA, for their support to modify legislation through the CHAMPVA Childrens Protection Act. The legislation would allow young adult children of veterans to be eligible to maintain CHAMPVA healthcare insurance to age 26, similar to children of military service members and children of parents in the private sector. March 9, 2021.
