Supporting the development and introduction of S. 3264, "Debt Settlement Consumer Protection Act of 2010," and H.R. 5387, "Debt Settlement Consumer Protection Act of 2010," and related initiatives to protect consumers of debt relief services products. Supporting funding for the financial counseling and education programs of the federal government and supporting the development of additional initiatives to promote the financial literacy of all Americans.
Supporting the development of regulatory language to clarify the meaning of the term "loan originator" as it is used in the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (Title V of P.L. 110-289). Supporting amendments 3891 and 3290 (to provide relief to struggling homeowners) to S. 3217, "The Restoring American Financial Stability Act of 2010," and supporting an additional change to S. 3217 with respect to the jurisdiction of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau that would be established under the legislation.
