1. Comprehensive immigration reform, seeking support and passage of legislation providing for an adequate agriculture workforce, a workable process for agricultural producers in determining a worker's legal status, and improving border security against harmful actions.
2. Border Security/Immigration Reform - Agriculture operations are very labor intensive, and a domestic work-force willing to fulfill the workload is not available. Agriculture producers are often required to hire foreign workers to complete these tasks. Without adequate procedures in place for producers to secure workers in a timely manner, producers are at risk of losing perishable crops. Texas Farm Bureau is seeking comprehensive reform to US immigration and border security.

1. WOTUS Rule by EPA The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers sought public comments on a proposed rulemaking that will vastly expand the federal jurisdictional of the Clean Water Act. If finalized, many ditches, farm ponds, waterways, erosion control features, and adjacent wetland areas could be interpreted to be waters of the United States and therefore regulated by the EPA and Corps of Engineers. Texas Farm Bureau seeks to have EPA and the Corps of Engineers withdraw this damaging and extremely unpopular rule.

1. Senate tax extenders, seeking support and passage of legislation extending special tax considerations for individuals and businesses, including for agriculture cash accounting, Section 179 accelerated depreciation and Unrelated Business Income Tax (UBIT)
2. House tax extenders, seeking support and passage of legislation extending special tax considerations for individuals and businesses, including for agriculture cash accounting, and section 179 accelerated depreciation. Efforts to have UBIT included in the House legislation.
3. UBIT-Unrelated Business income Tax. The non-profit Texas Farm Bureau receives income from its arrangement with for-profit affiliated entities. Considering that the for profit entity already pays taxes on profits as is appropriate, the U.S. tax code provides for special consideration for the non-profit. These considerations have been extended for one or two year periods through legislation. Texas Farm Bureau seeks to gain temporary or permanent extension of this consideration.

1. Texas Farm Bureau is a proponent for improved international trade agreements. Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) for the President is currently expired. Farm Bureau supports re-authorizing TPA to facilitate efforts on the Trans Pacific Partnership and Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership
