Protection of home education from government regulation - meetings with various Congressional offices to talk about homeschooling success.
Meetings with Members of Congress and staff about protecting homeschool freedom in the reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, including protecting the language codified in 20 U.S.C. 7886, if Congress reauthorizes ESEA.

Work with Congress and the Department of Defense to ensure that homeschool graduates are able to enlist in the U.S. Armed Forces, and that their homeschool diploma does not disqualify them. Section 532 of H.R. 1540, the 2012 NDAA, specifically authorized this language, and we worked with Congress and the DOD to make sure that the regulations and recruitment policies complied with Section 532 of H.R. 1540.

Work on S. Res. 99, a Senate Resolution of opposition to ratification of the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Opposition to any attempt to ratify the U.N. Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Mike Farris testified against this treaty in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. We have also conducted personal lobbying visits with Senators against this treaty, and urged grassroots calls, emails, and letters opposing this treaty. This treaty would allow UN officials to oversee all decisions regarding children with disabilities, under the best interests of the child standard, and would also cede US sovereignty to the UN.
Also urged grassroots calls to the White House to ask President Obama to withdraw this treaty from consideration by the U.S. Senate.

Mike Farris testified before the House Subcommittee on the Constitution in favor of H.J. Res. 110.
Opposition to HHS Proposed Guidelines that require employers to cover birth control and abortion-inducing drugs, and HHS Proposed Regulation that will create an unconstitutionally weak and narrow religious exemption. Urging citizens to file public comments with HHS opposing proposed rule.
Urging grassroots calls to Members of Congress in support of legislation such as the Representative Fortenberry Bill (H.R. 1179) that would protect the right of conscience and religious freedom by eliminating the HHS mandate that all employers (except churches) provide contraceptives free of charge to their employees.
