Lobbied in support of adequate funding levels in the Fiscal Year 2017 Agriculture Appropriations Bill for the following accounts within USDA: the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service that would support enforcement of the Animal Welfare Act, the Horse Protection Act, the Humane Methods of Slaughter Act, the Emergency Management Systems for animal care, and USDA's Investigative and Enforcement Services; the Office of Inspector General for enforcement of current animal fighting laws; and the National Institue of Food and Agriculture to implement the Veterinary Medical Services Act. Lobbied in support of including language in the Fiscal Year 2017 Agriculture Appropriations Bill to ensure that federal funding used for agricultural research is in compliance with the Animal Welfare Act. Lobbied to include language in the Fiscal Year 2017 Agriculture Appropriations Bill that would defund the Department of Agriculture's inspection services of domestic horse slaughter plants.
