UA supports original report language in the FY18 House Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations bill for the following in NASA's Science Mission Directorate Astrophysics Division: 1) $76 million to be dedicated to Astrophysics Research and Analysis, and 2) NASA to enter into an agreement with the National Academy of Sciences on a feasibility study of a mission line for the Astrophysics Division that is analagous to the New Horizons missions in the Planetary Science Division; UA supports original report language in the FY18 House Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations bill for the following in NASA's Science Mission Directorate Earth Science Division: 1) $199.6 million for the Venture Class Missions program, and 2) $322.6 million for the Earth Science Division's Research and Analysis account; UA supports original report language in the FY18 House Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations bill for the following in NASA's Science Mission Directorate Planetary Science Division: $70 million for the Planetary Defense Coordination Office for the Near-Earth Object Camera mission; UA supports original report language in the FY18 House Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations bill for the following reform of the NSF's Major Research Equipment and Facilities Construction program: encouraging NSF to consider further changes to its award level threshold to allow funding of mid-scale infrastructure, cyberinfrastructure, and instrument upgrades; The UA supports $5.91 billion for the NASA Science Mission Directorate in the FY18 Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies appropriations bill
The UA is requesting an FY18 appropriation of $90.3 million for the NIH/NIEHS Superfund Hazardous Substances Basic Research and Training Program, with $60.1 million designated for the Superfund Research Program Research Project Grants (Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies appropriations bill); The UA requests robust funding for the Cooperative Research Unit Program within the U.S. Geological Survey budget in the FY 18 Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations bill; The UA supports the substance of the POST GRAD Act, as introduced in the 114th Congress; The UA supports an appropriation of $8 billion for the National Science Foundation in FY 18

HR 2810: UA called for robust funding for defense research 6.1 funding in both the NDAA and defense appropriations bills, including for DARPA, Army Research Labs, the Naval Research Laboratory and the Air Force Research Labs. January-February 2017 this included support for space object behavior related funding.

Under the Smith Lever Act for FY18 agiculture appropriations, UA is supporting funding at $6 million; UA supports the passage of the Water Resources Research Amendments Act (S 451, HR 1663; UA supports an appropriations level of $9 million in FY 18 for the Water Resources Research Institutes Program in the U.S. Geological Survey budget (Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies appropriations bill; The UA supports an appropriation of $50 million in FY18 for the Crop Protection/ Pest Management line in the USDA's NIFA budget (Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies appropriations bill)

Higher Education Act Reauthorization: UA is supporting a new pilot program for Earn to Learn, an innovative Arizona-based program that works with the US Dept of Health and Human Services to "vest" students in their own education, enabling them to graduate with minimal debt and at higher retention and graduation rates.
