To the US House and Senate chairs and ranking members of the Appropriations Subcommittees on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies concerning Fiscal Year 2018 funding for Title VIII Nursing Workforce Development programs and the National Institute of Nursing Research. To reject a 50% cut in funding for the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Office on Smoking and Health (OSH) for fiscal year 2017. Requesting an increase to the Fiscal Year 2018 appropriations for the CDCs National Center on Birth Defects and Disabilities, which works to save babies by studying and addressing the causes of birth defects. To express our strong opposition to sections of the House Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies appropriations bill for Fiscal Year 2018 that would weaken the Food and Drug Administrations authority to oversee cigars, e-cigarettes, and certain other tobacco products. Supporting funding in FY18 for the National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities (NCBDDD). The President's budget request. Supporting Title V MCH Block Grant FY18 Approps.
