Senate and House: Support passage of the Dakota Water Resources Act Amendments, which includes funding for the Lake Traverse Rural Water System; support increased law enforcement funding and services to large land-based tribes and reservation like SWO; request funding to establish a tribal water department that will be operated, maintained, and expanded by a Tribal Water Authority to build out its rural water system project; support tribal government access to low-income housing tax credits, advocate for value-added agriculture to create jobs and boost rural economy, and support extension of the Tribal General Welfare Exclusion Act, to ensure that Tribal General Welfare Benefits are not counted as income for purposes of Federal benefits eligibility.
BIA: Working on Detention, Law Enforcement and Public Safety Facility at Lake Traverse, including increased funding for increased adult detention funding for water tower, ceilings, and staff housing.
HHS: Support for a proposed Indian managed health care in SD, to assist in establishing a Health and Wellness Center and an In-Patient Treatment Center at SWO.
BIA & USDA: Work on firefighting and fuel reduction agreement for Black Hills Forest under Tribal Forest Protection Act.
DoJ: Advocate for increased law enforcement funding and services to large land-based tribes and reservations like SWO; draft comments to DoJ regarding need for law enforcement funding and resources in response to letter from DoJ requesting input from tribes.
Treasury: Draft comments on Tribal General Welfare Exclusion Act Regulations.
White House: Advocate for the Revocation of the Wounded Knee Congressional Medals of Honor issued to the 7th Cavalry.
