Railroad Retirement Board (RRB) - TCU meets periodically with the Railroad Retirement Board (RRB) to discuss the Boards operations, the trusts status, and any potential policy changes in the future. TCU communicated with the RRB on issues related to its Railroad Unemployment Insurance (RUI) program in the wake of COVID-19 imposed furloughs in the railroad industry.
H.R. 748, "CARES Act" - TCU communicated with the RRB as well as House and Senate staff to discuss funding issues at the Board in the CARES Act. TCU shared information with the House, Senate, and the RRB with regards to the impact of COVID-19 on the RUI program, funding IT-related projects to program the expansion and extension of RUI benefits, and the removal of RUI from the list of programs subject to sequestration.
Amtrak Appropriations FY2020 - TCU communicated with members of the House and Senate, as well as Amtrak itself, regarding various grant-related issues. These issues include: grant funding levels for Amtrak, report language for Amtrak grants, and food & beverage operational changes at Amtrak.
Amtrak Assistance - TCU communicated with Amtrak, House and Senate staff with regards to the operating assistance package for Amtrak and labor protections for employees furloughed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Railroad Yardmaster Protection Act - TCU communicated with House offices on the reintroduction of HR 3148.
Precision Scheduled Railroading (PSR) - TCU communicated with House and Senate staff, as well as Federal Railroad Administration officials, regarding the freight rail industrys new operating model, Precision Scheduled Railroading. TCU specifically commented on how PSR may impact workforce safety in the railroad industry.
