Fiscal year 2022 Appropriations: Advocacy for increased FY22 funding for health professions workforce programs, University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDDs), Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) Programs, Graduate Psychology Education (GPE) Program, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, Agency for Health Care Quality and Research (AHRQ), NIH, The Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), and a request against the inclusion of the heritable genetic modification rider or an amendment to the language that allows for FDA approval of mitochondrial replacement therapy. Request for congressionally directed spending to establish virtual intensive care units (VICU) in two coastal hospitals, Columbia Memorial Hospital in Astoria and Bay Area Hospital in Coos Bay, and for additional funding for OHSU's Northwest Native American Center of Excellence to increase the number of American Indian and Alaska Native health care providers.

Financial support for vaccination efforts, hospitals, and hospital workforce in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Support for extension beyond the end of the public health emergency of temporary flexibilities from CMS that allow providers to be reimbursed for telehealth at parity with in-person services and make it easier for telehealth to be used by both providers and beneficiaries, as well as other COVID-19-related hospital flexibilities. Support for extension of the public health emergency beyond January 16, 2022. Support for adding $25 billion in emergency funding to the provider relief fund, distributing all remaining funds, and targeting those funds towards front-line providers responding to the ongoing public health emergency. Advocating to include may and not shall in the feeding tube section of the ePOLST standard form, to allow Oregon to continue using its current Physician Orders for Life Sustaining Treatment (POLST) form.

Inclusion of an emergency fund for academic health centers in COVID relief legislation, support for the unique higher education needs of academic health centers in training health care professionals. Support for the Future Advancement of Academic Nursing (FAAN) Act (S.246/H.R. 851), which would invest $1 billion into schools of nursing to ensure nursing education pathways remain strong during current and future public health challenges, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. Support for the Student Assisted Vaccination Effort (SAVE) Act (S.2114), which would makes permanent the ability of health professions students to administer vaccines during a federally declared public health emergency.
