H.R. 82-"Social Security Fairness Act of 2023"-this legislation repeals provisions that would reduce Social Security benefits for individuals who receive other benefits such as a pension from a state or local government, and eliminates the GPO and WEP. The NRLCA supports this bill.
S. 597-"Social Security Fairness Act"-Senate companion bill, the bill repeals provisions that reduce Social Security benefits for individuals who receive other benefits such as a pension from a state and local government, as well as eliminates the GPO and WEP. The NRLCA supports this bill.
H.R. 5723-"Social Security 2100"-legislation that protects Social Security. The bill also repeals WEP and GPO. The NRLCA has not taken a position on this bill.
H.R. 866-"Equal COLA Act"-legislation that would revise the formula used to calculate the cost of living adjustment for annuities under FERS. The NRLCA has not taken a position on this bill.
H.R. 5995-"Federal Retirement Fairness Act"-legislation that would allow federal and postal employees who spent time in the non-career or temporary status before becoming a regular to buy back their time from their non-career status. The NRLCA endorsed this legislation.

Public Law 117-108-"Postal Service Reform Act"-the NRLCA has been working with the USPS and OPM regarding the Medicare Integration provision that begins in 2025 for all active postal employees under the age of 64 as of December 31, 2024.
H.R. 3721-"United States Postal Service Shipping Equity Act"-legislation would give the USPS the authority to deliver alcoholic beverages. The NRLCA endorsed this legislation.
H. Res 439-a house resolution expressing the sense of the House the USPS should remain an independent agency and not privatized. The NRLCA endorsed this resolution
H.R. 1439-"Vote at Home Act of 2023"-legislation expands voting by mail in federal elections and provides for automatic voter registration through the state motor vehicle authorities. The NRLCA has not taken a position on this bill.
