Sent letters encouraging tax reform to:
Benefit all farm and ranch businesses, including sole proprietors, partnerships and sub-S corporations.
Reduce income tax rates to a level that makes up for any deductions or credits lost.
Allow businesses to deduct expenses when incurred; continue to allow for cash rather than accrual accounting; and continue Section 1031 "like-kind exchanges."
Repeal estate taxes and continue stepped-up basis, which sets the value of land and buildings at what the property is worth when inherited.
Lower taxes on capital investments, and do away with capital gains taxes being levied on transfers at the time of death.
Preserve statutory accounting as the basis for tax accounting for insurers.
Tax proposals must not distort an insurer's income and must be grounded in sound public policy.
Significantly lower corporate tax rates.
Maintain the Current Deductibility of Advertising Expenses.
