Urged Senators, Representatives, and legislative staff to support emergency supplemental appropriations targeted at health care providers, higher education (students and institutions), research, public health, state and local governments, nonprofit institutions, disaster assistance, and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic emergency, including the creation of a COVID-19 and Future Pandemic Response Centers of Excellence program. all of which were consolidated into the FY2021 Omnibus and COVID Relief and Response Act (HR 133).
Encouraged Representatives, Senators, and legislative staff to pass various continuing resolutions to fund federal departments, agencies, and programs at current levels at various times through December 28 (HR 8900, HJ Res 107, HJ Res 110, HR 1520).

Urged legislative staff to include funding to ramp back up the nations biomedical research enterprise in its COVID-19 relief efforts; encouraged members to cosponsor the RISE Act (HR 7308) to authorize supplemental funding to NIH to cover extraordinary COVID-19-related costs to biomedical research.
Urged legislative staff to include funding and express language to provide relief for providers in hot spot areas directly addressing the COVID-19 pandemic.
Urged legislative staff to support a proposal to create a COVID-19 and Pandemic Response Centers of Excellence program.
Urged legislative staff to support H.R. 8283, the Temporary Reciprocity to Ensure Access to Treatment (TREAT) Act.
Urged legislative staff to address telehealth provisions CMS identified as under Congress purview including audio-only visits and the ability for telehealth services to be provided to both new and established patients for acute and chronic conditions.
Urged agency staff to create a dedicated fund within the provider relief fund to provide relief to faculty practice plans.

Met with Senators, Representatives, and legislative staff to express opposition to the President's executive action rescinding the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, and to encourage support of the legislation to continue the program and protect all undocumented students. (HR 6)
Met with legislative staff to express support for comprehensive immigration reform.
Discussed concerns with legislative staff about the effects of Administration's policies on student visas, visas for international faculty, and OPT visas. Expressed opposition to policies to suspend most H1-B visas. Asked and thanked legislators for actions to encourage the executive branch to allow international students to remain in the U.S. while taking on-line courses during the COVID-19 pandemic. Supported policies to facilitate issuance/renewal of student visas during COVID-19 pandemic emergency. Met with legislators to express opposition to executive action to limit duration of stay for international students on F and M visas.

Thanked Representatives for including language in the FY21 Agriculture Appropriations Bill directing FDA to continue funding public outreach efforts and directing FDA to continue supporting contracts with organizations that provide this training.
