On House floor, supported Pence Amendment No. 11, to prohibit federal funding of Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and named affiliates, and (continued)
anticipated amendment by Rep. John Fleming (R-La.) to prevent erosion of federal protections protecting health care providers who do not wish to participate in providing abortions (not offered). Contacts in support of S.AMDT.13 to S.223 because it would 1) eliminate the Independent Payment Advisory Boards authority to make recommendations designed to limit the ability of Americans to spend enough of their private funds on health care to keep up with the rate of medical inflation, 2) eliminate the authority of the Secretary of Health and Human Services and other Federal agencies to impose quality and efficiency measures on health care providers that would limit their ability to provide life-saving medical treatment , based upon the recommendations of the Independent Payment Advisory Board, 3) eliminate the authority of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services to limit Medicare participants choice of private-fee-for-service plans that allow senior citizens voluntarily to add their own funds on top of the government contribution in order to obtain insurance less likely to deny care, 4) eliminate the requirement that state health insurance exchanges administrators exclude plans offered by insurers that they deem permit their customers to spend an unjustified and excessive amount on their health care, and 5) repeal the provision related to shared decisionmaking.
