The Travel Restriction Reform and Export Enhancement Act (H.R. 4645): A bill to remove obstacles to legal sales of U.S. agriculture commodities to Cuba and to end travel restrictions on all Americans to Cuba. The bill is of interest to the organization because removing impediments to travel will result in increased sales of commodities from Missouri and other agriculture states to Cuba.

Senate Joint Resolution 26/House Joint Resolution 76 & 77: Joint resolutions disapproving the Environmental Protection Agency's positive finding that greenhouse gases endanger public health and welfare. If passed and signed into law, the endangerment finding and subsequent Clean Air Act regulations issued by EPA would be nullified.
The Clean Water Restoration Act (S. 787)/America's Commitment to Clean Water Act (H.R. 5088): Legislation to amend the Federal Water Pollution Control Act to clarify the jurisdiction of the United States over waters of the United States. The organization opposes an expansion of the Clean Water Act.
The Chesapeake Clean Water and Ecosystem Restoration Act of 2009 (S. 1816/H.R. 3852): Legislation to amend the Federal Water Pollution Control Act to reauthorize the Chesapeake Bay Program and require the Environmental Protection Agency to establish a Chesapeake Bay protection program, and other purposes. Of interest the organization are the potential implications of the bill if similar actions are taken in other watersheds across the United States.
Mississippi River Basin Healthy Watersheds Initiative: Our organization submitted letters of support for three local Soil and Water Conservation District proposals to the Natural Resources Conservation Service. Funding provided through the initiative will be used to help local producers to carry out voluntary conservation practices.

American Jobs and Closing Tax Loopholes Act (H.R. 4213): Legislation to extend tax relief provisions applicable to individuals, businesses, etc. Of interest to the organization are provisions of importance to farmers, rural residents and the renewable energy industry.
Estate Tax Reform: The organization supports enactment of legislation to reform the federal estate tax before the pre-2001 exemption level and tax rate are reinstated in 2011. The organization favored H.R. 3905, the Estate Tax Relief Act of 2009, introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives.

The Preservation of Antibiotics for Medical Treatment Act of 2009 (S. 619/H.R. 1549): Legislation to preserve the effectiveness of medically important antibiotics used in the treatment of human and animal diseases. Of interest to the organization are proposed restrictions on antibiotics approved by the Food and Drug Administration for use in livestock and poultry production.

The FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (S.B. 510): Legislation to amend the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act to improve the safety of food consumed by domestic consumers. The issues of paperwork and recordkeeping for agricultural producers as well as expaneded authorities of the Food and Drug Administration in general are of interest to the organization.
USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service "Draft Guidance Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point Systems Validation": The organization submitted comments citing concerns about validation requirements and the cost of compliance for small and very small meat processors.
