(When filing the 3rd Quarter 2009 Report we inadvertently filed it as 2nd Quarter. This amended report restores the 2nd quarter report as it was when initally filed in July 2009)
Maintaining or enhancing Medicare reimbursement for hospitals, physicians and related health care providers including rehabilitation
Maintaining or enhancing Graduate Medical Education reimbursement
Opposing "Employee Free Choice Act of 2007," HR 1409, S 560, because it removes the secret written ballot from establishing a collective bargaining unit.
Opposing "Freedom of Choice Act," (not yet introduced in 111th Congress; in the 110th Congress the numbers were HR 1964, S 1173) because it does not explicitly ensure the exercise of conscience by health care providers in abortion services.
Opposing Trailblazer, the fiscal intermediary in the state of Oklahoma, determination that numerous instances of behavioral health care for juveniles did not qualify for disproportionate share payments by Medicare.
Supporting "Resident Physician Shortage Reduction Act of 2009," S. 973, HR 2251, that would increase the number of Medicare supported physician residence training positions and redistribute unused training positions.
Opposing "American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009." HR 2454, that would, among other provisions, cap so-called greenhouse gas emissions and impose a national building code on state and localities that do not adopt a California-style building code with respect to energy efficiency.
With respect to "health care reform legislation" in both the house and the senate, we have advocated that any reductions in disproportionate share payments would be proportional to the number of additional persons who obtain health care coverage under any new plan and that any new methodologies, such as bundled payments for acute and post-acute care give adequate authority to hospitals to control post-acute care in order to avoid unnecessary readmissions to hospitals.
Advocating for support for new initiatives at SSM Health Care facilities in Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri and Oklahoma.
Advocated for "meaningful use" of electronic health records that would focus on their use by individual facilities to avoid duplication of services and to promote coordination of care--not based on whether other facilities in a community have adopted them or based on community wide public health outcomes over which an individual hospital has no control.
