Urged Senate to only confirm a qualified, consumer-law-experienced permanent director for the CFPB. Urged CFPB to maintain a robust, public consumer complaint database in comments responding to "Request for Information Regarding the Bureau's Consumer Complaint and Consumer Inquiry Handling Processes (CFPB 2018-0014)". Urged CFPB not to abandon supervision, enforcement and rulemaking tools in comments suggesting improvements to its financial literacy programs in "Request for Information Regarding Bureau Financial Education Programs (CFPB-2018-0015)". Commented in favor of continued strong use of guidances as a tool to hold industry accountable in "Request for Information Regarding Bureau Guidance and Implementation Support (CFPB-2018-0013). Supported S2362 (Reed), the "Control Your Personal Credit Information Act of 2018" to give consumers more control over the use of their credit reports. Opposed HR6743, the "Consumer Information Notification Requirement Act" (Luetkemeyer) to create a federal data security/data breach law that preempts stronger state breach and data security laws and state enforcement. Opposed provisions of S3246 (Hatch)/HR5444 (Jenkins), the Taxpayer First Act, that would continue and expand the so-called Free File program, that allows tax preparation services continued favorable use of the IRS website as a platform to pitch their other products. Oppose NCUA proposal (RIN 3133-AE84) to expand the sale of Payday Alternative Loans by credit unions. Opposed HR2570 (Posey), the so-called Mortgage Fairness Act, which would make it easier for lenders to steer homeowners into high-cost mortgages. Urged both House and Senate in consider of any and all Appropriations packages, including "Senate FY 2019 minibus II made up of the Financial Services & General Government, Interior, Agriculture, and Transportation, Housing & Urban Development appropriations bills" to fully fund the operations of agencies that enforce health, safety and financial protections and to keep all appropriations packages free of poison pill policy riders that should not be part of any federal budget.

Commented to CPSC on priorities in its Annual Operating Plan, including urging the collection of data on deaths and injuries from Recreational Off-Highway Vehicles. Urged Senate not to approve Peter Feldman to a full term as a CPSC commissioner at the same time it confirmed him to complete an unexpired term (but took no position on his confirmation to that unexpired term). Urged inclusion of a number of pro-consumer provisions, including the Fair Fees Act (S1037), into the FAA Reauthorization Act (S1405). Submitted comments to the FTC in advance of its series of Hearings on Competition and Consumer Protection in the 21st Century." Joined a petition to the FTC urging enforcement against Facebook for its privacy violations. Joined a petition to FTC urging enforcement of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act against violations by Google's Youtube. Urged the Senate Commerce Committee to hold a hearing including only privacy advocates, after it gave Big Tech and ISPs a privacy hearing of their own. Opposed HR2570 (Posey), the so-called Mortgage Fairness Act, which would make it easier for lenders to steer homeowners into high-cost mortgages.
