Expressed continued opposition to Representatives, Senators, and legislative staff to budget cuts to research and education programs outlined in the Administration's budget request for FY 2018.
Urged Senators and Representatives to raise the budget caps in FY18 to prevent cuts or an across-the-board sequester to non-defense programs, including education and research, and to support defense basic research and medical research programs. Thanked Senators & Representatives who voted for HR 1892.
Requested support for/thanked Senators, Representatives, and legislative staff for supporting continuing resolutions (HR 195, 1892) that prevent a government shutdown and provide funding for research and education programs, and continue to block implementation of the Administration's proposal to cap F&A costs on NIH grants.
Requested support for/thanked the Senators and Representatives who supported the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2018 (HR 1625), with increases for research (NIH, NSF, USDA, DoD, DoE, NASA, NEH) and education (Pell, SEOG, FWS, TRIO, PSLF, Title VI).
Recommended to Senators, Representatives, and legislative staff that they oppose the budget cuts and proposals to eliminate research and education programs contained in the President's FY19 budget proposal.
Asked Representatives, Senators, and legislative staff to support funding for the following programs in the FY19 appropriations process (no legislation introduced):
