Regulations under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (HR 3590) related to calorie disclosure on products sold through vending machines (Federal Register/ vol. 78, No. 5/Page 1376 Tuesday, January 8, 2013) Food Safety Modernization Act (21 USC CHAPTER 27) final rule. Meetings held with FDAs office of Food and Veterinary Medicine related to calorie disclosure rules. Tracking issues related to the US Food Code and its application to the micro market channel. This specifically relates to the Office of Food Safety at the Center for Food Safety & Nutrition. Specifically, discussion surrounding state health department regulations, which mostly reflect the US Food Code related to food safety and micro markets and the Council For Food Protection. Promotion of Conference for Food Protection guidance document for Unattended Food Establishments.
Tracked FDA's final rule issued 5/20/2016 announcing the new nutrition facts label for packaged foods.
Continued discussions with FDA's Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) regarding nutrition education in the convenience services industry.
Tracking Food Date Labeling Act of 2016 (H.R. 5298) (S.2947)
Continued support for the establishment of a uniform compliance date for various federal regulations requiring changes in the labeling of foods.
Discussions held with FDA related to pending vending calorie disclosure final guidance document.

Hosted EPA ENERGY STAR stakeholder meeting at NAMAs Coffee, Tea and Water show to discuss the Commercial Coffee Brewers version 1.0 specification. Had further discussions on ENERGY STAR's final specifications as they were issued. Also working to promote the specification/standard.

Tracking letter to Department of Health and Human Services and The Office of Management and Budget regarding the Presidents fiscal year (FY) 2017 budget request. In this letter we respectfully asked that the Presidents FY 2017 budget request provide adequate funding for the U.S. Food and Drug Administrations (FDA) food safety activities as one of its highest priorities rather than proposing new user fees on consumers and food makers.
Continued supporting increase in FDA's annual Appropriation for FY17 to a proposed $2.85 billion.
