S. 114, National Center for Social Work Research Act - Support establishing the National Center for Social Work
Research as an agency of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to conduct, support, and disseminate targeted research on social work methods and outcomes related to problems of significant social concern.
S. 1403, Strengthen Social Work Training Act of 2009
Support ensuring that social work students or social work schools are eligible for support under certain programs that would assist individuals in pursuing health careers or for grants for training projects in geriatrics, and to establish a social work training program.

We have written letters to House members and made numerous phone calls to House staff. H.R. 6654/S. 3364 Increased Student Achievement Through Increased Student Support. Sent alerts to House and Senate Members and made phone calls. H.R. 5628, Ban Corporal Punishment in Schools Act. Drafted an alert for our members to send to House members urging them to cosponsor the bill.

Child Welfare Workforce Improvement Act (S. 2837) Made phone calls, wrote letters and an alert urging NASW members to contact their Senators to support his bill. S. 3817, legislation to reauthorize the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA). Wrote several blogs to inform our membership of the bills status.

Support a bill to amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to permit direct payment under the Medicare program for clinical social worker services provided to residents of skilled nursing facilities. H.R. 5040, (Kennedy) the "HIT Extension for Behavioral Health Services Act." Issues: Medicare, Medicaid, health system reform, HIT. Support a bill to extending eligibility to clinical social
workers and other behavioral health providers for electronic health record incentive payments established under Medicare and Medicaid. H.R. 4994, (Reid) The Medicare and Medicaid Extenders Act Issues: Medicare, Medicaid. Support a bill to extend current rates for Medicare Part B payments to clinical social workers and other practitioners.

Voting Rights Act: attempts to enfranchise over 550,000 District of Columbia residents through the addition of one House seat for our Nations Capital and another for the primarily Republican state of Utah; (H.R.157/S.160).
