Affordable Health Coverage and Access to Health Care:
Jobs and Premium Protection Act (S. 80, H.R. 2477) - Support this bill to repeal the health insurance tax, and the inclusion of this measure in the year-end spending package signed by the President.
Middle Class Health Benefits Tax Repeal Act of 2019 (H.R. 748) - Support this legislation to repeal the Cadillac tax and its inclusion in the year-end spending package for repeal signed by the President.
Middle Class Health Benefits Tax Repeal Act of 2019 (S. 684): Support this legislation to repeal the Cadillac Tax on health plans and its inclusion in the year-end package for repeal signed by the President.
Health Insurance Tax Relief Act of 2019 (H.R. 1398, S. 172) - Supported the legislation to extend the moratorium on the health insurance tax.
Expressed opposition to H.R. 3, the "Lower Drug Costs Now Act," and its passage in the U.S. House.
Expressed general support to legislation that would repeal the Medical Device Tax.
Voiced concern about Medicare for All and Single Payer type proposals regarding their impact on small business costs, choices, quality of care and taxes.
HHS Proposed International Pricing Index (IPI) for Medicare Part D Drugs: Continue to express opposition and concern about this regulatory proposal regarding its impact on investment, innovation and small bio-pharmaceutical firms.
Surprise Billing: Continue to express support for action by the Congress, and House and Senate for a solution to address surprise medical bills (specifically to include a market-based in-network rate) and opposition to "binding arbitration."
Access to Capital and Capital Formation:
Continue to Urge Congress, House Financial Services Committee and Senate Banking Committee to focus on bipartisan solutions (such as JOBS Act 3.0 in the last Congress) and activity to help entrepreneurs access needed financing and capital.
Advocated for reforms to equity and debt-based crowdfunding (Title III regulated crowdfunding) including lifting the limit on the amount that can be raised to $10 million or $20 million, testing the waters, single purpose vehicles, lifting some investor limits, among other changes.
Taxes, Tax Reform and Simplification:
The Small Business Owners Tax Simplification Act of 2019 (H.R. 593) - Support the legislation to modernize the tax code for small businesses.
The Main Street Tax Certainty Act of 2019 (H.R. 216) - Support the legislation to make permanent the 20% deduction for small businesses in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
Restoring Tax Fairness for States and Localities Act, H.R. 5377. Opposed House passage of the legislation.
Business Activity Tax Simplification Act (H.R. 3063): Support the legislation.
Small Business Startups Act,
Trade and Global Markets, Intellectual Property Protection:
Continue to advocate for passage of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Trade Agreement (USMCA) in the House and Senate.
Supported the signing of the U.S.-Japan Trade Agreement.
Support H.R. 2426, the Copyright Alternative in Small-Claims Enforcement Act (CASE Act), and House passage of the legislation.
Continue to express concerns about the impact of new and/or threatened tariffs from the Trump Administration on small businesses, as well as the uncertainty that the tariffs inflict on small businesses.
Continue to urge the Trump Administration to reach a trade deal with China on IP protections, market access and lowering barriers, and reaching a deal generally in order to bring certainty to markets, small businesses, and to boost business investment. Expressed support for "Phase One" trade agreement.
Continue to express support for trade agreements with the United Kingdom, European Union, and other nations to open new markets and lower barriers to trade for U.S. entrepreneurs and small businesses.
Small Business Regulatory Reform, Relief and Action:
Regulatory Reform for Small Business: Continue to support modernization of the regulatory process and providing small businesses a more meaningful voice in the process through the Small Business Regulatory Flexibility Improvements Act (S. 584 in previous Congress), the Early Participation in Regulations Act (S 1419) and the Setting Manageable Analysis Requirements in Text (SMART) Act (S.1420).
Expressed opposition to the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act in the Senate (S. 1306) and House (H.R. 2474). Opposed House passage of the legislation.
Announced support for the formation of the Governors Initiative on Regulatory Innovation announced by President Trump.
Announced support for Executive Orders signed by President Trump on two regulatory initiatives: Transparency and Fairness and Bringing Guidance Out of the Darkness.
Continue to support efforts underway at the Department of Labor and National Labor Relations Board to fix and modernize the "joint employer" standard.
The Modern Worker Empowerment Act, H.R. 4069, support the legislation.
Continue to voice action by the Congress for a national regulatory framework for Privacy and Data Protection.
Corporate Transparency Act (H.R. 2513): Oppose the legislation to impose complex rules and requirements on all small businesses with regard to beneficial ownership, and House action on the legislation.
Affordable Energy:
PURPA Modernization Act of 2019 (H.R. 1502) - Support the legislation to modernize PURPA.
Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act of 1978 (PURPA). Support reform and efforts underway at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to reform the statute and submitted comments expressing such.
U.S. Postal System (USPS) and Costs:
Continued to voice support for reforms at the Universal Postal Union that would bring cost equity to American small businesses.
Small Business and Entrepreneurial Support/Support for Nominations:
Support the Confirmation of Keith Sonderling as an EEOC Commissioner.
Supported of the nomination and confirmation of Dan Brouillette for U.S. Energy Secretary:
Supported the nomination of Jovita Carranza as Administrator, U.S. Small Business Administration.
Access to Broadband and Other Telecommunications Issues
Spectrum. Supported NPRM by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to reallocate 75 megahertz of spectrum in the 5.9 GHz band to be made available for more productive and innovative purposes, such as for unlicensed uses for WiFi.
Satellite Television Extension and Localism Reauthorization Act (STELAR). Supported the reauthorization and opposed the alternative H.R. 5140, the Satellite Television Community Protection and Promotion Act of 2019.
