Urged that Congress adopt a domestic discretionary spending level no lower than the President's FY 2011 budget, free of multi-year freezes and cuts. Improve and preserve the Refundable Child Tax Credit. Retain help for families with three or more children and reduce the "marriage penalty" in the Earned Income Tax Credit. Help low-income students afford to go to college through the American Opportunity Tax Credit. Opposed further reduction in revenue from the estate tax. Supported the extension of
unemployment insurance and COBRA, along with the TANF Emergency Fund. Urged passage of a robustly funded Child Nutrition Bill. Supported passage of the Local Jobs for America Act (S. 3500). Urged that the following provisions be included in the Senate version of H.R. 4213: extension of unemployment insurance through 2010, COBRA health subsidies, enhanced FMAP benefits, and funding for the National Housing Trust Fund, the TANF Emergency Contingency Fund, and the summers jobs program.
