Unrelated Business Income Tax - The non-profit Texas Farm Bureau receives income from its arrangement with for-profit affiliated entities. Considering the for-profit entity already pays taxes on profits as is appropriate, the U.S. tax code provides for special consideration for the non-profit. These considerations have been extended for one or two year periods through legislation.

Tax Extenders: Farm and Ranch families are subject to many tax provisions that expired December 31, 2014. Farm Bureau works toward passage of a year-end package of tax extenders that are of importance to farm and ranch businesses, such as Section 179 expensing.

Repeal of mandatory Country of Origin labeling for beef, pork and chicken. COOL must be repealed to avoid $3 billion in trade retaliation by Canada and Mexico. Such retaliation would be potentially devastating for agriculture. Supported HR 2393 and worked for its passage. The U. S. Senate has yet to act on this issue. We continue to work for resolution.

Withdrawal of EPA Water of the U.S. (WOTUS) rule, H.R. 1732 and S. 1140 each would require EPA and Army Corps of Engineers to withdraw their proposed rule and resubmit following terms laid down by Congress. This rule could have large negative impacts on farms and ranches across Texas. Therefore, we support both efforts to force its withdrawal.
