Hospital wage index reclassification and resolution of regional disparities. Issues related to the reduction of the annual disproportionate share (DSH) payment and problems with the SSI formula calculation. Expanding Medicare payment rules for stroke related telehealth services to include urban areas and to provide coverage for infusion-related services, supplies and equipment under Medicare Part B. Urged support to rescind the regulation that fully eliminates the IME adjustment made under Medicares capital
reimbursement system. This regulation will eliminate an estimated $375 million in annual Medicare support for teaching hospitals. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) prevented the first year of cuts under the capital IME policy, but it does not prevent the full phase-out of Medicare capital IME payments, which is scheduled for October 1, 2009. The effects of oxygen caps on payment and also the competitive bidding of durable medical equipment.
