House Joint Resolution 79: This would rescind the Federal Communication Commission's December 2007 rule regarding broadcast media ownership.


FCC Docket 04-186 White Spaces The Commission is conducting a proceeding in ET Docket No. 04-186 to consider authorizing the operation of new, low power devices in the TV broadcast spectrum at locations where channels are not being used for authorized services, including broadcast television, broadcast auxiliary services such as wireless microphones, and private land mobile radio (primarily public safety).

FCC Docket 07-198 and 07-42 Cable Wholesale Bundling/Sec. 616 reform: Meetings regarding independent cable channels who have been discriminated against because they include programming that competes with cable channels owned by cable operators. The goal is to urge the FCC to use its authority to ensure these independent programmers and small cable operators are not being unfairly discriminated and to correct any malfeasance they identify.

Class A LPTV Must Carry (MB Docket No. 07-294). Meetings regarding the FCC plan to issue a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking at its upcoming Oct. 15 public meeting on whether to grant Class A stations, full-power status. This rule would avoid unnecessary displacement of low power television stations (LPTV) that provide substantial local programming to their communities.

DPI/NebuAd Report: Meetings regarding prospective legislation regarding online privacy. Both the House and Senate will hold hearings during the summer and into the fall. Internet providers were put on notice that tracking their customers online actions without their explicit consent was unacceptable.
