Advocated budget levels supportive of categories of programs within Function 500 (Education, Training, Employment and Social Services); and Function 550 (Health), of importance to UMDNJ including the National Institutes of Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Title VII/HRSA, Medicare and Medicaid.

The Department of HUD has a specific account devoted to economic development initiatives (EDI), which we advocated as an appropriate vehicle to support the Stratford education facility.

Advocated increased appropriations for the National Institutes of Health, and the Ryan White AIDS Care Act, under the FY 2010 Labor, Health and Human Services and Education Appropriations Bill.
Advocated that various workforce development issues affecting the supply of health professionals, including the funding of Graduate Medical Education, and Title VII and Title VIII expansion, be addressed within health reform legislation.
Advocated that certain issues important for dental clinics to be able to receive Health Information Technology bonus payments via the Medicaid program, as provided in H.R. 1 the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, be addressed by the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, and the policy and standards committees that are developing implementing regulations.
Advocated that the CDC/NIOSH provide UMDNJ/RWJMS a continuation grant for the operation of the World Trade Center Health Monitoring and Treatment Program in Piscataway, NJ.
