● Prepare Client to attend a roundtable meeting with Members of Congress & staff, Secretary of Commerce, and NOAA staff to discuss status of AK fisheries and coastal communities
Support for U.S. and European import bans of Russian seafood
Support for inclusion of seafood in USDA commodity support programs
● Efforts with Hill staff to improve provisions of the FISHES Act to streamline the federal fishery disaster processes; provide detailed review of several bills at Hill staff request including: MAPS Act; BREP Act, Trawl Clarity Act; Resilient Fish Act; and MRIP Reform bill; assist Hill staff with letter drafting; provide Client with opportunity to sign national letter to Congress on anti-trawl legislation
● Monitor and report to Client on NOAAs CCC meeting; monitor congressional hearings on ocean-related legislation and report to Client; review and monitor status of the Save our Shrimpers Act
● Draft and submit letter to AK Hill staff on status of fisheries in Alaska; provide Client with advice for commenting on NOAAs data confidentiality proposed rule
● Ongoing communications with Client on numerous marine/oceans issues including: status of marine sanctuaries in the region; Hill staff changes; fishery disaster reform and relief; VIDA status; OSW energy development & impacts on whales; WA-AK chinook salmon status and SRKW population issues; MSA reauthorization; ESA chinook salmon petition; and MMPA issues
